We have a major Product Update from Horizons this month:
Introducing SEPA and BACS Direct Debits for EUR and GBP Bank Payments
🌍 Seamless European & UK Bank Payments Now Live
We’re excited to announce the release of SEPA (EU) and BACS (UK) Direct Debit support, making it easier for our clients across Europe and the United Kingdom to pay Horizons invoices directly from their business bank accounts.
With SEPA and BACS Direct Debits, you can now experience:
✅ Effortless invoice payments — no more manual transfers or delays
✅ Regulatory-grade compliance — fully aligned with SEPA and BACS mandates
✅ Asynchronous and reliable processing — Direct Debit confirmation via webhook and email.
This means more automation, less friction, and improved cash flow visibility.
💳 How It Works
Step 1: Add Your Bank Account (SEPA or BACS)
From your Payment Methods page:
- Click “Add New” and select Bank Debit
- Select either SEPA or BACS as the method
- A secure Airwallex Drop-In window will open, where you will enter:
- IBAN / Sort Code & Account Number
- Bank Name
- Account Holder Name
- Accept the Direct Debit Mandate Agreement.
Choose verification:
- Truelayer (instant verification)
- Microdeposits (takes 1–2 business days)
Your authorized bank token will be stored securely after mandate registration.
Step 2: Pay Your Invoice via Direct Debit
When you receive an invoice:
- Click Pay Invoice and select Bank Debit
- Choose your saved SEPA or BACS bank account
- Review payment preview
- Confirm to authorize the Direct Debit.
💡 Payments are processed asynchronously. You’ll receive a confirmation email once funds are collected successfully.
Note! Funds are debited securely from your verified account only upon your manual confirmation.
Step 3: Reconciliation & Status Updates
All payments are manually reconciled by our finance team member as an additional layer of security. As soon as the transaction is confirmed, the invoice status updates automatically in your client dashboard.
🔐 Security & Compliance
We use Airwallex for secure handling of all mandates and payments. All processing follows PSD2 (Europe) and UK Direct Debit scheme rules.
Availability: SEPA and BACS Direct Debits feature implies availability to all users globally.
Furthermore, this functionality is not connected to ACH Direct Debit — it operates under entirely separate regulatory frameworks: SEPA for the EU, BACS for the UK.
